About

I am a wife, a mother of five (nine including in-loves), and a grandmother of seven BEAUTIFUL, AMAZING grandchildren. Above all I am in love with God, the Creator of the universe and God of the Bible. This blog follows our adventures as my husband, youngest son, and I left the comfort of our home, family, and friends back in Texas to live in Israel for a year serving on the leadership team of Succat Hallel, a 24/7 house of prayer in Jerusalem. We then moved to Brussels, Belgium in Feb. 2010 to start a house of prayer. In Brussels, we have now joined our two grown daughters and their families along with many others who have the same burden for Europe. Brussels is called the “heart of Europe”. It is the capital of the European Union. We want to see God’s kingdom established in the EU, and that begins with consistent, focused prayer and worship on a night-and-day basis in the context of a community of believers. Come, Lord Jesus!
Luke 18:1-8
1 He then told them a parable on the need for them to pray always and not become discouraged: 2 “There was a judge in one town who didn’t fear God or respect man. 3 And a widow in that town kept coming to him, saying, ‘Give me justice against my adversary.’
4 “For a while he was unwilling, but later he said to himself, ‘Even though I don’t fear God or respect man, 5 yet because this widow keeps pestering me, I will give her justice, so she doesn’t wear me out by her persistent coming.’ “
6 Then the Lord said, “Listen to what the unjust judge says. 7 Will not God grant justice to His elect who cry out to Him day and night? Will He delay [to help] them? 8 I tell you that He will swiftly grant them justice. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He find that faith on earth?”
If you have read this far, then you might want to know a little more about us….
We live and serve in Belgium by the financial gifts of precious believers in Jesus, and we are so grateful. The ministry here is expanding quickly. If you desire to give to our family and the expansion of Ninth Hour/Brussels House of Prayer, you can give online at two different sites:
Modern Day (Click on the giving link under our names.)
Shady Grove Church (Click on “egiving” and put our names in the memo.)
Thank you for your generosity. We pray God would bless you and give you more and more revelation of His love and desire for you!
My Favorite Quotes:
If a sudden jar can cause me to speak an impatient, unloving word, then I know nothing of Calvary’s love. For a cup brimful of sweet water cannot spill even one drop of bitter water however suddenly jolted. ( If – a poem by Amy Carmichael)
A house of prayer has its inception when someone beholds the majesty of Jesus and in wisdom concludes that the only reasonable response is for men to laud Him ceaselessly. This is the testimony of the heavenly assembly and it must be ours too. The desire that His indescribable glory would be seen and His matchless worth treasured above all else must be the cornerstone upon which night and day prayer must be founded and the chief reason it continues each passing moment.
Our worship must be mingled with fervent intercession for the Church and the lost, but at the center of night and day devotion stands a breathtaking Beauty that knows no rivals, and His splendor alone is more than sufficient to warrant 24/7 devotion in Heaven and on earth. (Stephen Venable)
True love aims at satisfying people in the glory of God. Any love that terminates on man is eventually destructive. It does not lead people to the only lasting joy, namely, God. Love must be God-centered, or it is not true love; it leaves people without their final hope of joy. (John Piper)
There are times when solitude is better than society, and silence is wiser than speech. We should be better Christians if we were more alone, waiting upon God, and gathering through meditation on His Word spiritual strength for labour in his service. We ought to muse upon the things of God, because we thus get the real nutriment out of them. . . . (Charles Spurgeon 1860)
Love captivates. The wrong kind of love (which really isn’t love at all) captivates us leading to unhappiness, despair, depression, and unfulfilled expectations. True Love captivates us leading to uncontainable joy, peace with ourselves, purpose in life, and the knowledge that God not only loves us, He LIKES us! (me)
